Welcome to our FAQs, a vibrant space designed to satisfy your inquisitive nature and offer an in-depth understanding of Shebah Farms’ ethos, practices, and delectable products. Here, we aim not just to answer your questions but to create a conversation, weaving a narrative that showcases the dedication and passion behind everything we do.

We specialize in growing three main crops at our farm – turmeric, garlic, and asparagus. For turmeric, we cultivate several sought-after varieties including Rajapore, Sangli, and Erode. Our garlic crop consists of white and pink garlic. And for asparagus, we grow premium thick-stemmed green and purple varieties. We use advanced propagation techniques and plant genetics to produce high yielding disease-resistant cultivars. Our specialized agronomy team carefully nurtures the crops through their full growth cycle to maximize quality.

Shebah Farms Ltd was founded by a team passionate about responsible farming. We spent two years preparing the land, installing solar irrigation systems, establishing crop propagation facilities, and constructing packing sheds. We initially focused on intercropping turmeric and garlic while our asparagus crowns matured. Our first commercial harvest was in 2018. Since then, we have rapidly expanded production by over 300%. We supply major retailers across Kenya and also export to Europe and the Middle East.

Our crops are grown using the highest quality standards. We control the entire process from propagation to packaging. And we employ strict quality control practices so our turmeric, garlic, and asparagus are at peak freshness and flavor. We see happy customers as key to our success.

Once harvested, crops are hand-sorted, graded, and packed in our climate-controlled sheds. Products are immediately dispatched in refrigerated trucks to retain freshness. For the Nairobi markets, we use our own logistics. For international shipping, we work closely with several reputable air/sea freight partners to meticulously plan transportation. Our supply chain team tracks each shipment using GPS and monitors conditions like temperature/humidity. This ensures the utmost care and timely delivery to reach consumers and retailers at optimum quality.

Conserving water and soil is vital on our farm, so we use climate-smart irrigation systems powered by on-site solar panels. We also minimize waste and recycle wherever possible across our full operation. Protecting the planet is extremely important to us.

Yes, we adhere to the Global G.A.P. standards of responsible farming practices. We undergo third party auditing and certification annually to maintain compliance. This includes factors like worker welfare, environmental safety, and traceability.

We understand many potential partners or consumers like seeing firsthand how crops are grown. Thus we do offer tours a few days per month for pre-approved visitors. Groups are limited to 6 per tour and must wear closed shoes. Our farm safety officer provides an in-depth orientation before commencing. Tours start at the propagation houses, continue through the drip-irrigated fields, pause for lunch featuring our fresh produce, and conclude at the sorting/packing facilities. We also give away garlic bulbs and turmeric rhizomes as parting gifts!

We currently provide full-time sustainable farming jobs in Laikipia county and neighboring areas. Our team works extremely hard to supply our fresh, high quality crops year-round while upholding positive environmental impact.
